I made another recent trip to photograph the Mythbusters workshops and offices in San Francisco for the Discovery Channel. A truly fascinating, bizzare and slightly surreal place where every square inch is filled with hardware and offbeat ephemera from past experiments that highlight the wit and ingenuity of the cast and crew: Jamie, Adam, Tory, Kari and Grant.
Former Secretary of State Condoleeza Rice was photographed in her Stanford, California home on September 29, 2010 for USA Today. I also shot a short video interview with her as well during which I was treated to a short piano recital. Say what you will about her politics, as an individual she was very gracious and, no surprise, extremely charismatic. Two traits that are no doubt essential in dealing with the world’s power elite.
I’m not really one for Civil War history but I found these monuments at the Vicksburg National Military Park particularly captivating. During the Vicksburg Campaign (1862-1863) 20,000 men died upon these grounds.
I recently photographed author Terry McMillan for a piece on the long-awaited sequel to her best seller ‘Waiting to Exhale’ entitled ‘Getting to Happy’. Half of her house was in boxes as she prepared to trade the Bay Area suburbs for the heart of Manhattan. “At this point in my life, I need a little more activity and excitement around me. For a 58-year-old single black woman, Danville’s not exactly a rockin’ place.” I haven’t read her books but up close she’s a sharp wit and a very funny lady.
