On the morning of September 11, 2001, Michael Hingson was in his office on the 78th floor of the North Tower of the World Trade Center when the first plane exploded into the building above him. Michael, blind since birth, was led down 1,463 steps to safety by his guide dog Roselle just minutes before the tower collapsed. Since that day, Michael has devoted his time to working with service dogs. Roselle died in July, 2011. In June I met and photographed Michael and Roselle for Guideposts Magazine.
