Paratrooper and medic Ken Moore, 89, jumped in behind enemy lines into Normandy on D-Day before the landing force came ashore. His unit set up a field hospital in an ancient church and cared for both Allied and German wounded. They patched up about 80 soldiers in the first hours of the invasion.

His exploits in the church earned him a Silver Star.
